The Emerald Eye
Hyrulans were an ancient race from the Hyrulan Desert, known for their magic and engineering. During their time, they founded the cities of Hyrula and Patra. However, a great cataclysm shook the Hyrulans cities, leaving them in ruin. The Hyrulans worshipped Deznan, and were primarily good-aligned.
Humans are the descendants of the Hyrulans. Less magic and engineering-inclined than their forefathers, they inhabit much of the Ironlands but congregate in large numbers in the Ersrock Union and western Fyr Valley. Humans are known for their expansionist nature and wide number of interests that keep them from specializing easily. During the Lizalfal raids of Redrock Bay, the Human city of Redrock brought Orc engineers down to build the Walls of Redrock to defend them from the incursions. The Walls are known for their ornate, Orc-inspired artistry as well as their soaring parapets that make the city nigh-unconquerable. The gates are built of cedar and the gatehouses covered in opal. Redrock also houses the Woowoopad, a massive flint and brick church that houses shrines to all the deities and whose priests evangelize interfaith cooperation.
Early in the Third Age, Humans allied with the Orcs to found the Ersrock Union, with its capital in the Orc city of Citadelmer. The Ersrock Union proved useful during the War of the Five Races. Grog’s avatar had turned the residents of Redrock against each other as an allied army of the Alsani Hyrate and the Seafarers approached. However, Orcish armies and Brin’s avatar Fyr arrived, convincing the residents of Redrock to make peace and for the Aslan to recognize the Lizalfal as the true threat. Following the end of the war, Humans founded the cities of Peace and Bluebay Hill. Humans worship all the deities and are neutral.
Seafarers split from the Humans of Redrock to inhabit Suba Island and the Broken Chain. They reside in the cities of Southport and Stormhaven. Seafarers are known for their hardy, sea salt-cut nature. They are also expert healers, using a variety of sea creatures and plants to heal all but the rarest maladies. Seafarers were part of the War of Five Races, joining the Alsani Hyrate in their march on Redrock before peace was declared. In the years after the war, the Merfolk who surrounded the Broken Chain came down with a plague. It was only the intercession of the Seafarers which saved the Merfolk from death, and who now treat the Seafarers as kin. Stormhaven, to defend itself from Northerner pirate raids, has built a series of Seawatchers, watchtowers built into the ocean’s rocky pillars near Stormhaven. The Seawatchers keep an eye for incoming boats and alert the residents of Stormhaven to raise defenses. Seafarers worship Grog and are only good-aligned.
Northerners are an offshoot from the Seafarers, inhabiting much of the western shore of the Ironlands.
