The Emerald Eye

S1E6: Lady Ainent's Cave
A Minor Miner Deity

Arriving at the cave where Lady Ainent was being held captive, Sancho and Dessel snuck up on the outer sentry, quickly catching her off-guard when she went to refill her waterskin in the hot desert sun. The cave was filled with the sound of trickling water and the stench of ozone. Sneaking around, they encountered a large group of bandits arguing over who deserved more of the money. A careful spell from Denton Fitz sent the bandits into a rage-fueled fight, whereupon the party stepped in and finished off the remaining thugs, but not before trying and failing to pass themselves off as new recruits.

Proceeding further into the cave, they came across a well-furnished room where they found a letter that read:

Clonne:

The money will be waiting for you at the usual spot at the Tireless Fount north of Forevan.

-Pakdi

Venturing further, they found a large cistern behind a shaky wall where they argued whether or not to bust it down and flood the bandits' hideout. Deciding not to at the moment, the party ventured further, finding a bag of valuable gems.

Crossing the cave's river on a rickety wooden bridge, they found a room where a glistening golden statue of Onatar, the god of craftsmen and miners. A minor miner deity. However the room was filled with webs and the group decided to pass on investigating further. They then came upon a room that looked like a barracks, where Urist pinched a pillow embroidered with "Baris", the name of the thug they had killed near the kitchen.

Checking through what appeared to be an old tool storage room, the party came upon several Potions of Healing, as well as a mysterious magical cloak. Studded with polished obsidian, it gave each member a sense of distaste and discomfort as they held it. Stashing it away, the party continued further into the cave.

Discovering that several magical presence existed behind the next few doors, the group was about to investigate when a sudden bang reverberated through the cavern. A door at the end of the hall opened, and three bandits spilled out, one carrying a magical shield emblazoned with an open eye and ancient symbols. Within moments, the party had felled all three, but the source of the sudden noise revealed itself as the cavern began to fill with water.

A lightning trap was triggered as they opened another door to reveal Lady Ainent, as well as a scared and small Aslan boy, locked in manacles at the end of an old storage room. Additionally, Algernop “Gemswift” Lundindal peeked through the last door where the visage of a blue dragon wyrmling shouted to not be disturbed and turned towards the party.

The Great Chicken Caper

Having arrived in Forevan, the party bid a fond farewell to Pyrpoli. The party made their way to the Grand Bazaar where they investigated what the circle labeled "Pallak's Cave" could possibly mean. The party tracked things down to three merchants who Algernop and Urist interrogated. A tall half-elf male who sold overpriced weapons, many of Lizalfel make, and iron ore. An overweight Aslan male leatherworker who was very eager to sell his wares. And a short black-haired human female, selling cloth and other raiment, not interested in talking. After some brief haggling and back and forth, Algernop wandered off, where he found a cheerful and energetic male half-elf by the name of Ibil who sold him a wonderful smelling powder.

No closer to solving their question, the group began to leave the Bazaar when there was a loud shout from the belltower. A body smashed into the ground, clutching what turned out to be an Emerald Eye necklace, and a bloody letter that read "Brother Mahdi, Meet me at the belltower. Our quarry is within our grasp! Konane." Within moments an angelic deva, who turned out to be the aforementioned Konane rushed to try to save the paladin that fell from the belltower, but was too late.

After being accosted by the deva, the group took the necklace to their Emerald Eye contact in Forevan, Aras. Aras was waiting at The Lucky Dice, a gambling establishment run on behalf of the Eye. Aras seemed suspicious how the group obtained the necklace, but indicated she would return it to its rightful owner. As the group left The Lucky Dice, Dessel and Sancho were pickpocketed.

Algernop then made his way to the Temple of Rao, where after talking with the blustering and pompous Head Cleric Khrystiyanr, he managed to wrangle an appointment with Deva Konane. Konane took offense at the gnome's questions about the outer planes and stormed off, uninterested in such basic questions that had nothing to do with Paladin Mahdi's death.

Meanwhile the rest of the group went to the Temple of Brin, where Elder Priest Jara offered to assist them in their travels to save Lady Ainent. Providing a trove of healing potions from their collection in the basement, Jara had the group meet with Pyrpoli, a drunk boat pilot who plied the river between Forevan and Kazu. Providing him with several barrels of booze, the party made their way to Kazu.

Once in Kazu, the group wasted no time getting to the cave where Ainent was held prisoner, except for a short exchange with a drunk old man who accosted them, asking whether they were Rockhewers or Crownkneelers. Paying him no mind and getting lost in the crowd, eventually they bought 20 chickens and some carts and made their way up the crocodile-infested river to the cave where Ainent was being held.

S1E1: On the Road

The five new recruits to the Emerald Eye arrived at the Topaz Trading Company in the docks district of Redrock. They were welcomed by Nisil who asked them to locate Innog Snaredotr. Innog was fleeing the Waterbane Guild and was last heard to be laying low at the Last Battle Inn, on the road to Peace. They are to bring Innog to the Old Grist Mill on the Union Road to Bluebay Hill.

Nisil gave them their first challenge by sending Redrock's town guard after the group, accusing them of killing Lord Okim. Despite the odds against them, the group worked together and slipped out the back door and into the crowd.

While resting for the night, the group was attacked close to dawn by a group of bandits. Despite the ambush, the group was able to take out three of the bandits, a half-orc, a dwarf, and a human who looked like the head of the group. The female bandit was able to get away. In the human's pockets, the gnome found a wanted poster for the Five Rings Bandits, offering 20 gold for each bandit caught and an extra 10 gold for [[Ryrandis], the leader, if the bandits were delivered to Magistrate Phelleps of Redrock.

Deciding they could offload the captured bandits at the town near the Last Battle Inn, the group set off, the three bandits in tow.
